3D Sapanca Lake Basin with ArcGIS Pro

As it is known, ESRI now develops ArcGIS Pro product in accordance with 64bit architecture instead of desktop GIS software ArcMap. In this context, I have been using ArcGIS Pro in my work since the day it was published. I even have a tutorial on using ArcGIS Pro available on the UDEMY platform (Click here to view the tutorial). It is quite simple to make 3D maps with ArcGIS Pro, which adds new features every day and contains a lot of capabilities.

I liked the three-dimensional map application that he made in the last post published by the cartographer John Nelson, whom I have been following for a long time. With the same method, I produced a three-dimensional model of Sapanca Lake Basin with the image below based on John’s sharing.

This is the Sapanca Lake Basin, located in the north of the Samanlı Mountains in Turkey. This basin has one of the most important potable water resources in Turkey and even in the world. The approximate area of the lake is 45km². I prepared this work with the new capabilities of ArcGIS Pro, based on an original content prepared by cartographer John Nelson.

Thanks John Nelson for the inspiration and sharing.

Note: The horizontal/vertical ratio in the study is 1/3. In addition, ASTER GDEM V3 was used as DEM data.
